What to compare
| Amount | Check the range and customer restrictions. A published ceiling is not an approved amount. |
|---|---|
| Repayment term | Check numeric range, instalments and first due date. Amount availability does not confirm a term. |
| Total cost | Compare the dated total repayment including all charges. Daily and monthly rates have different time bases. |
| Documents and payout | Prepare the actual checklist. Processing estimates are not guaranteed payout times. |
| Operator | Check who runs the service. Website disclosures do not independently confirm current NCR status. |
Five criteria, five possible points
Each criterion receives 0, 0.5 or 1 point. Zero means the detail was not established from reviewed material, not that it is necessarily absent everywhere on the website.
| Amount range | 1: clear numeric range and applicable customer boundaries. 0.5: ceiling only, incomplete or conflicting limits. 0: limits not established. |
|---|---|
| Term clarity | 1: clear numeric range. 0.5: partial or conflicting term statements. 0: numeric terms not established. |
| Cost clarity | 1: clear applicable rates and charges without material ambiguity. 0.5: partial charges, example-only detail or conflicts. 0: numerical costs not established. |
| Document requirements | 1: clear application checklist. 0.5: eligibility or process information without a complete checklist. 0: requirements not established. |
| Operator disclosure | 1: operator identity, registration and contact stated. 0.5: partial details or incomplete review coverage. 0: operator details not established. |
CreditZA: 1 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 1 + 1 = 4.0 / 5. Inspect the evidence behind its score.
What the score does not measure
Scores do not evaluate complaint handling, financial stability, customer experience, suitability, approval chances or current registration. They are not customer-review averages. “Pending” means no defensible numeric assessment was assigned.
Matching services are assessed on their own service disclosures; their score does not rate partner loans. Source coverage differs between profiles and is stated with the assessment.
Directory order and amount filters
Default order is an editorial directory arrangement, not “best for you”. Sorting by rating operates within each group. Amount filters remove providers when a request exceeds a confirmed published ceiling. Unknown limits may remain visible. Results are research entries, not eligibility decisions.
Understand the calculator model
The main calculator uses equal principal repayments, monthly interest on remaining principal, the entered initiation fee spread across the term, and entered monthly service or insurance charges. Rounding is reconciled in the final principal payment.
Average monthly payment = total repayment ÷ months
Cost of credit = total repayment − principal
Dates are editable scenarios. A lender may use a different interest basis or payment method. Zero interest and fees mean the scenario includes principal only; they do not advertise an interest-free loan.
Conflicts and corrections
Official product pages, FAQs and terms are the starting point. Where sources conflict, we identify the difference rather than selecting the most attractive number. Review dates describe the checked material, not daily monitoring. Report an error with official evidence, or email hello@finoro.co.za.
