Your side-by-side comparison sheet
| Compare | Where to look | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Cash received | Amount advanced | Use the money you actually receive, not an advertised maximum. |
| Total payable | Quote and payment schedule | Include interest, fees and insurance. |
| Payment dates | Repayment schedule | Match payments to income dates. |
| Financed charges | Initiation fee / agreement | Ask whether fees attract interest. |
| Early or missed payment | Contract terms | Check consequences before signing. |
| Provider identity | NCR register and official contact | A copied registration number is not enough. |
Use the published price, not just the headline rate
The Boodle worked example shows why a monthly rate alone does not describe the full borrowing cost.
THE NUMBERSExtra cost = total payable − cash borrowed
Compare this rand amount for the same amount and term. A lower monthly payment can reflect a longer, more expensive loan.
Before choosing an offer
- Can you cover every payment after essential expenses and existing debts?
- Are the amount, term, fees and insurance clearly stated?
- Have you matched the provider’s identity to the NCR register?
- Do you understand the agreement before accepting it?
